The Shakespeare Sessions Continue...

Updated: May 9, 2022

We've been exploring The Bard in our ever-popular classes with Shakespeare expert, actor and Master coach Chris Donnelly from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. We've recently looked at A Winter's Tale, and for our 2022 summer season, we'll delve into the 'enchanted voices' of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.

In all the classes, we specifically look at Shakespeare and the voice - for example, how his masterful use of language and the voice conjure a sense of power and magic. And we uncover Shakespeare's acute humanity and searing wit as he analyses the morals and madness of young love.

The Human Condition

Few, if any, writers throughout history have been able to plumb the depths of human emotion to the level of William Shakespeare. His ability to drive the drama forward, enhance the plot, develop character and create a stunning atmosphere with every syllable uttered, using only his breath-taking language and the human voice, is second to none.

In our Shakespeare sessions, we explore these depths, the vivid imagery and the genius of the Bard's imagination through the lens and language of his characters and look at the themes of conflict via comedy or tragedy.

Come & Play

These sessions are for EVERYONE. So if you've always been interested in finding out more about exploring Shakespeare as a voice actor in a safe and friendly environment, then come along with an open mind and a willingness to play!
