About the Masterclass
The training will be delivered in two stages with the first stage being online and the second stage in-person in Bristol.
Dialects Post-haste 1: Trusty Building Blocks
8 hours total - 4 x 2hr sessions | Online (Zoom)
Sunday 22, 29 Sept, 6 & 13 Oct, 6pm-8pm each day
Dialects Intensive:
Crafting people from voices
Cascading into specificity (ear-training, transcription, coordination of the vocal organs for speech sounds)
Sound versus spelling
Big picture shifts (recognising patterns in melody, rhythm, loudness and the relative duration of sounds)
Primary sources -- beyond the usual suspects
Retention and consistency
Applying it all to an unfamiliar accent
Dialects Post-haste 2: US accents of English for British actors ("general" versus specific American); pre-req DP1
12 x hrs (3 x 5-hour sessions, with a 1hr break each session)

Doug Honorof
Doug Honorof will teach exclusively in the UK for BRAVA, delivering his intensive accents & dialects programme, both online and in-person in Bristol.

He cut his teeth decades ago on straight plays and musicals, commercials, games and narration and trained as an actor, comedian, writer and linguistic phonetician (including, especially, at Yale/Yale Drama, the Actors Center, the Barrow Group and the Dramatist Guild Institute). He has taught at the Yale School of Drama and CAP21 (NYU/Tisch) and other leading actor training programmes.
